 NOTICE OF ADVISORY REFERENDUM

Town of Calamus, Dodge County Wisconsin
January 28, 2015

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that at an election to be held in the Town of Calamus, Dodge County, Wisconsin on April 7, 2015, the following proposed Resolution of the Town Board of the Town of Calamus will be submitted to a vote of the people:

RESOLUTION NO. 1-2015

ADVISORY REFERENDUM

ON COLLECTION OF WASTE MATERIALS AND RECYCLING

 

WHEREAS, the Town of Calamus currently utilizes dumpsters at the town garage for waste collection and recycling purposes; and

WHEREAS, a question has arisen as to whether the residents of the town would prefer to have residential roadside pickup of such waste materials and recycling; and

WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the initial additional cost of such roadside collection of waste and recycling would be about $170.00 per year charged to each residence;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Calamus, Dodge County, Wisconsin, place the following advisory referendum question on the ballot at the election to be held on April 7, 2015:

 

Question:   Should  the Town  Board  of  the  Town  of  Calamus  contract  for residential roadside pickup of waste materials and recycling?

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Calamus shall take all necessary steps to implement this Resolution.

 

EXPLANATION

 

The Town of Calamus currently provides receptacles at the town garage for the collection of waste materials and recyclables.

A "YES" vote to the referendum question means that the Town Board should contract to have waste materials and recyclables picked up at each residence at an additional initial cost to each residence of about $170.00 per year.

A "NO" vote to the referendum question means that the Town Board should not contract for residential pickup of waste materials and recyclables but that residents of the town should continue to utilize the receptacles provided at the town garage for those purposes.
